PIF on Air internet seminars go international
After rolling out this series of seminars on eco-friendly premium packaging in the German-speaking region in October, the event is now going into its second phase.
Starting on 16 December, four different dates and times are scheduled for brand owners, designers, printers and converters around the world.
PIF on Air ties in with the successful Packaging Inspiration Forum.
Eco-friendly premium packaging
Based on our comprehensive Better Human concept, the members of the PrintCity Alliance will be showing how environmental targets and outstanding packaging can be combined with high-end decoration. It all starts with plastic-free design of the boxes, continues with sustainable products (substrates, inks, varnishes, iriodines, thin layer decorations) and ends with recycling.
This includes the latest developments in the food industry, such as barriers, antiviral surfaces and UV production.
In addition, innovative production methods illustrate the packaging industry’s efforts towards greater environmental awareness, such as climate-neutral production practices and a new method for returning PET waste to the closed-loop recycling system.
Breakout Sessions
Following the one-hour seminar, participants will have an opportunity to join in-depth discussions with our experts in small groups.
- UV (product safety, indirect food contact, sustainability, photoinitiator-free, compostability)
- Barriers (replacing plastics, board and varnish, food)
- Food packaging (low migration, DFC - direct food contact, product safety, antiviral and antibacterial)
- Recycling (circular economy, fresh fiber)
Dates and registration
There are four dates available.
- Dec 16, 2 pm CET
- Jan 19, 2 pm CET
- Jan 21, 9 pm CET
- Jan 26, 4pm CET
Participation is free of charge and targets brand owners, creatives, printers and converters.
Seminar language is English.
The content on the four days is the same and identical to that of the German-language seminars held in October.

Participating companies
Epple Druckfarben (offset inks and coatings), LEONHARD KURZ (hot stamping and cold foil applications, holograms), Metsä Board (folding cartonboard, white kraftliner, food service paperboard), Merck (special effect pigments), WEILBURGER Graphics (varnishes, adhesives and water-based flexo inks), Zeller+Gmelin (UV inks and varnishes).

Combining barrier inks and coatings in cartonboard supports monomaterial, sustainable packaging that goes without composites and therefore opens up new fields of application.
UV LED is a viable option for indirect food contact applications.
No mercury lamps are used in production, meaning that no UVC radiation and no ozone are generated. The process is low-odor and accepts temperature-sensitive substrates
Injection molding pellets made from recycled PET waste. The PET waste generated during hot stamping, cold transfer and digital transfer processes has now been successfully returned to the closed-loop recycling system.
